Jim, as he is known by his family and colleagues, was born in Carrollton, Georgia, where he has resided most of his life. He attended West Georgia College where he was conferred the Bachelor of Arts degree in 1969. He then served in the Research and Development Department of a local wire manufacturing company as a Research Metallurgist until 1984 when he entered law school in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1987, The Board of Trustees of Woodrow Wilson College of Law conferred upon him the degree of Juris Doctor, Magna Cum Laude. Though licensed to practice in: the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit; the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia; the United States Patent and Trademark Office; the Georgia Supreme Court and the Georgia Court of Appeals; and the Superior and State Courts of the State of Georgia, Jim’s practice is presently limited to Guardianship, Conservatorship and estate issues in the Superior and Probate Courts. He served Carroll County, Georgia, as the County Administrator and the County Guardian for a number of years; and, since 2004, Jim has also served as an Acting Probate Judge in the Probate Court of Carroll County, Georgia.
